It's Hot Hot Hot

Aweh, guys!

So, the whole of Europe has been engulfed in a heatwave with temperatures reaching up to 45 degrees in places like Spain and the Netherlands hasn’t been exempt… it’s safe to say that it is hotter than Satan’s left testicle. We’ve had temperatures as high as 35 degrees! When I first arrived in Woerden and I was using the laundromat, I spoke to the lady running it and she said it got up to 40 last year… brace yerselves!

The thing with South Africa is that the houses are designed for heat, and we actually installed aircon in our flat old flat. Here, they don’t even keep cooldrinks in the fridge. The only saving grace is that we are a few steps away from one of the best ice cream stores in the Netherlands with a trove of rotating flavours. Today I had blood orange sorbet that soothed my barbequed soul. It’s also fun to hear all the kids screaming for isje.

Luckily, this will only be for a short time before temperatures regulate themselves again and we can look forward to the cool grey weather we so quickly became accustomed to… and hopefully not die of heat stroke before then!
