Movin' On In

Movin' On In

Aweh, guys!

The day has finally arrived! We are moving into our new flat and hopefully give our nonsense children a bit more stability. I honestly think Spock has PTSD from the flight which explains his freaking out over the vacuum and ending up on top of the fridge in the first place. To be honest, I could do with some stability too.

We had packed last night so the last things to do included vacuum bagging our clothes (can’t recommend this enough for extended travel) and cleaning up the flat, making sure to put the cats in the car before we vacuumed and handed over the keys to Astrid. We thanked her for our stay (and the upgrade) but we were excited to get on the road to our new home!

We made it in good time and were able to get our stuff in the flat in record time (mainly because we were paying for street parking and wanted to pay as little as possible) with the cats being the first load. Once we were done, and we were sure the door was closed, we let the babies out to do some exploring, making sure they had food, water and a clean poop box.

We then headed out to my personal abode of the damned: IKEA. We didn’t even have a pot to piss in, so I squashed down my body’s flight response, took a deep breath and made it inside. This time was different as we had a clear list of stuff we needed, and we didn’t waste time with the show rooms. We also now knew where the short cuts were. In addition to our newfound understanding of how IKEA works, we also decided to have a bite to eat before descending into the infernal region. Their meatballs are tasty, and their fish and chips aren’t bad.

We got essentials like a pot set, utensils, cutlery, crockery, a duvet and towels. Nothing too expensive as we are still using our South African money as payday is only next week. We still need things like a wardrobe, a dining table with chairs, a couch and perhaps some nightstands.

We returned, parked our car in the underground parking garage and returned to our anxious children cats. I am relieved that we now have a place to call our own and hopefully things will start becoming a little more relaxed. Now it’s time to get unpacking.

Oh the possibilities
