Ooh… Yay, a Car! (Now What About Parking?)

Aweh, guys!

So, I was having a chill day at the office (read AirBnB) when Hubby finally arrives home from work and tosses a black rectangle at me. Proud of myself for catching it in the first place, I take a look and it’s a set of car keys. I let out the girliest sound (something akin to dolphin chatter) and rushed to the parking lot to have a look.

Standing out there is an opalescent white Toyota Prius. I know Hubby had been wanting an electric car, what with the price of petrol and everything (more expensive here than in SA so that’s saying something) but this is a hybrid, so really the best of both worlds. The car is on lease by the company to make Hubby’s commute easier as he is now working an hour and a half away. In September he will have the opportunity to choose another car once the lease is up.

Since we now have secured our spot in Woerden and are moving in mid-May, parking might be an issue as we don’t have a designated parking spot. You have to pay for parking regardless if it is on the street or in a parking garage, but the parking garage is more expensive at €850 a year for non-residents. Once we register as residents, we can apply for a cheaper parking permit. But we will cross that bridge once we get to it.

I’m just excited to have a convenient mode of transportation while we are out in the middle of East Jesus Nowheresville.
