Our Second AirBnB

Our Second AirBnB

Aweh, guys!

So, before we could pack up the car, we had to return the bikes. Since we had to check out at 10, cycling the bikes back wasn’t feasible. Luckily my kid’s bike was able to be collapsed so we were able to load it into the boot of the Peugeot… not without trouble. I stayed behind to pack up while hubby drove away with two bikes hanging out of the boot.

Monique came by to send us off and receive the keys back and she was able to meet the cattens. Shortly after that we were on the road. We decided since we still had time before our check in, we wanted to check out Dutch McDonalds. We each got a McKroket which is a beef ragu with cheese that is deep fried and served on a bun with mustard. It was really tasty!

Finally, we were close to check in to a farm called Boerderij de Zalm (salmon farm is the direct translation) and we accidentally arrived at the wrong place which I was slightly bummed about because it seemed very separate. Oh well!

We met our host, Astrid, who showed us to our room which was quite a bit smaller than our previous AirBnB, but it still had a dishwasher and a large bed which we were happy about. Since we brought our tiny devils, we had to pay a cleaning fee upfront which was fair enough. Astrid noted that since hubby is such a big guy and that we would be staying for in excess of a month, she would move us into a larger flat on the property on the 22nd. That was a really appreciated offer!

Since we would be returning the car the following day, we asked about the bus stops and how they work. As it turns out there is no scheduled bus on this route so we would need to order one using the app called TURNN. Using it we would be able to order a bus 45 minutes in advance for the specified routes, most importantly to the train station for Hubby to get to work, for only €2.50. If ordered on the weekend and the driver doesn’t have a card reader for the OV kaart, the ride would be free.

Another apartment, mama?

We thanked Astrid for getting us settled, released the terrors and watched as they explored yet another accommodation.
