Our Last Night in Our First AirBnB

Our Last Night in Our First AirBnB

So, the time at our first AirBnB has drawn to a close and it really has been a lovely quiet stay. Apart from the inconvenience of a distance, the amenities like included WiFi, the washing machine and dishwasher have made transition into our new country seamless. However, since we are so far out of the way, we needed to find a more conveniently located place that is pet friendly so we will be moving in tomorrow to a place in Schalkwijk.

Since we are stuck so far out, Hubby rented a car for us to get our stuff to the new place and it will be ours until Sunday. It’s a Peugeot 5008 so we have enough room for our luggage and the cat terrors. We also need to return the bikes in the morning from whence they came.

But now we have wheels and that means going out and treating ourselves to something inconvenient… like pizza! We decided to order Domino’s from their app and the first thing that caught my eye was a cheeseburger pizza. When I was a kid, one of the restaurants my parents took us to did a burger pizza so I knew I had to have it.

Finding parking to go collect the pizza was, however, a mission. Firstly, Hubby was nervous driving as we are used to driving on the left hand side of the road. In the Netherlands they drive on the right. Also, the roads are all super narrow so hard to navigate. We did find some parking in the end, but it was about a kilometre away. Once our pizza was retrieved, we decided we needed some beer, so we went to Albert Heijn to go get some before heading back with our prizes.

The pizza itself was a thing of beauty. It had minced meat, red onion, tomato, burger sauce and, most importantly, gherkin. The crust itself was also nice and chewy, and while it may not be everyone’s vibe, it is definitely the best burger I’ve had in the Netherlands so far. It honestly tasted like Rocomamas.

Adieu AirBnB Pijnenburg. You were awesome!
